Hopi Ear Candling

What is Hopi Ear Candling?

A non-invasive treatment providing an effective way of treating ear, nose and throat conditions.

Hopi Ear Candles or Thermo-Auricular Therapy is hollow tubes made of cotton, soaked in beeswax, honey and herbs. When lit, the candle acts like a chimney, causing the warm air inside it to rise and creating a vacuum at the bottom. This vacuum gently stimulates the ear, facilitating removal of excess wax and impurities.

I use genuine Hopi Ear Candles which are premium quality, pesticide free, unbleached woven cotton with pure beeswax. They are free from paraffin and other synthetic ingredients. The candles are filtered to prevent any back-flow returning to the ear candle.

Many of my clients experience a variety of benefits that are shared with me during and after the treatment which enables them to have a better level of well-being:

  • Removal of excessive or compacted ear wax.
  • Reduction of snoring.
  • Relief from problems such as sinusitis, rhinitis, glue-ear, tinnitus, hay fever, catarrh, asthma, colds, flu, headaches, swimmer ears, flying and diving pressure problems.
  • Reduction of inner ear irritation.
  • Stimulated blood / energy circulation.
  • Provided a soothing, light sensation around the ear and head area.
  • Relief from throat problems such as tonsilitus.
  • Helped to improve hearing
  • Reduced ear pain experienced when flying / diving.
  • Invigorated the immune system.
  • Provided a deep and lasting sense of mental, physical and emotional relaxation.
  • Reduced Congestion.
  • Helped to relieve the effect of stress.

Modern methods of cleaning the inner ear (such as the use of cotton buds) can in fact push wax further into the ear which can cause a number of problems. Ear Candles are a classic clearance therapy which can benefit many problems around the ear and head area.

What happens in the treatment?

Consultation: Your first treatment includes an initial consultation of about 5 minutes to find out basic personal, medical and lifestyle details. This ensures health and safety during and after your treatment.

It is advised that Hopi Ear Candles should not be used in the following circumstances: In cases of acute infection or inflammation around the ear; if the ear drum is perforated; if there are grommets in place; in case of allergy to any of the components of the candles.

During the treatment: The Hopi ear Candling treatment and Facial drainage massage will be tailored to suit your needs and specific ear, nose or throat condition. Lying down on your side in a comfortable position on a therapy couch, the candle is gently inserted over the opening. A small towel around your ear covers your hair for safety. Once the candle is lit you will experience a pleasant crackling noise, as the heat flow intensifies. The rising air through the column of the candle and gentle natural movement of the flame serve to gently massage the ear drum and promote secretion in the frontal and paranasal sinuses. This has an immediate subjective effect of regulating ear pressure.

Aftercare advice will be recommended to you to help prolong the positive effects of the treatment and ensure comfort.
